Eucalyptus oil is an essential oil that is taken from the leaves and stems of the eucalyptus tree through steam distillation. It takes 110 pounds of leaves and stems to make two pounds of eucalyptus oil. It is an essential and valuable resource to the world. The Aborigines used this oil to treat fevers, colds and pain. It was their way of treating sick people. They did not have medical technology like we do today, so they used what was available to them. This oil has a positive effect on the muscles and the body. It has an aromatic scent that goes deep in the system to relieve pain and symptoms associated with the cold and flu. It even helps to lower blood pressure when used properly. It is found in household hygienic products and can also be used to prevent infection from wounds. It can help treat dandruff with a combination of eucalyptus oil and shampoo. This oil is also very beneficial to pets because a spray of eucalyptus oil can prevent fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and other insects from biting the animal. It can also be used for humans as an insect repellent. Veterinarians use this oil to treat pets with distemper, food poisoning, septicemia and parasitic infections. It has been used on horse’s foot to treat and prevent infection
